The Louisiana renewal is a packet. The question is when it gets assembled.

Every fall, Louisiana home study families send BESE evidence that last year's program held up — and for most families that evidence is a physical packet: subject outlines, materials lists, and samples of the student's work. Louisiana home study families submit a renewal application to BESE by October 1, with evidence of a sustained curriculum — test scores, work samples, or a certified-teacher statement (La. R.S. §17:236.1). The packet gets assembled one of two ways: a September spent excavating a year of binders, or thirty seconds of capture at a time, all year, so the packet is a printout of a record that already exists.
