The path forward, on one page.

From ninth grade on, every family faces the same questions: which schools, programs, or trades actually fit your student, what still has to happen before senior year, and which tests to take, forms to fill out, and deadlines to meet before anyone warns you they are close. A private counselor can answer these for a family that can pay thousands of dollars for the conversation. Most families cannot, and a school counselor carrying hundreds of students at once cannot give any one family that kind of time either.

This is true whether your student is in public school, private school, or being homeschooled. The questions do not change, and until now, neither did the silence.

What the plan actually is

The Path Forward plan is one page that holds the whole picture for your student, rendered from what they actually did and had signed, not typed from memory into a form. It has five parts.

  • Targets and fit: the schools, programs, teams, or trades your family is weighing, and why each one fits, in your own words.
  • Already real: the lines pulled straight from your student's own record: what they did, and the adult who signed each one. Nothing is typed into this part; it only carries what actually happened.
  • Year by year: a few plain lines for this year, next year, and the years after, so the plan covers the whole stretch ahead, not just this semester.
  • The decision tree: the branches your family can decide calmly now, so the moment itself, when a letter arrives or a deadline closes, stays simple.
  • This week: how the week actually divides, in plain shares, with room left for a normal life; that belongs on the plan too.

You and your student write every line of it, in your own words and your student's own words. The plan only assembles what you enter and what your student's own record already holds; no part of it is written by a machine. As your student's record grows, season to season, you re-render the plan and it grows with it.

What it costs

The Path Forward plan is part of Family Premium, $199/year: everything in Family Pro ($119/year on its own), plus the plan itself. The filled-in preview you see above is always free, and your draft stays on your own device; paying unlocks the clean, printable version, and the record underneath is never behind either plan.

If a school enrolls your student as a founding issuer, Family Pro is included for that student at no cost to you. Ask your school whether it has enrolled.

How it starts

Start with the free page: a running list of what your student did, with each entry signed by the adult who saw it. Add to it as the year goes. The Path Forward plan renders straight from that list, so the more of it you keep, the more the plan already has to say.

What this is not

The Path Forward plan is not a counselor. Nobody reviews your student's file, and nobody sits across from you. It is not an essay writer: it never drafts a word presented as your student's own, and it never writes an application or a personal statement for them. And it is not a guarantee: a plan is a family document, never a promise that any school, program, or employer will say yes.

The record is yours to keep, share, and take back.
